Why I Love Post-Apocalyptic Scenarios and Abandoned Places

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been drawn to abandoned places: old houses, rusty cars, and derelict ships. 🚪🚗⚓ There’s something mysterious and captivating about them. Each of these objects holds a story. Once upon a time, families lived in those homes—there were moments of joy and sorrow, laughter and arguments. But now, they’re abandoned. Only the walls remain, silently holding memories they’ll never share.
The same goes for cars. Decades ago, someone designed that model, painted it with shiny lacquer, and placed it in a showroom, where it gleamed in the sunlight. ☀️🚙 Its owners might have saved for years, dreamed about it, talked endlessly about buying it. And now, that same car is left to rust in a forest, overgrown with weeds, its paint chipped and faded.
The smell of a new car has been replaced by the staleness of dust, mildew, and decay.
These stories deeply fascinate me. What happened to the people who created or owned these objects? Where are they now? How did these things end up abandoned? And if we imagine a world 20, 50, or 100 years after a global apocalypse, such stories multiply: a mold-covered teddy bear lying on the street 🧸, a family minivan with cartoon stickers on its rear window, overtaken by ivy and sprouting a small tree inside 🌱🚐, or a military ship tipped on its side in the middle of a city. How did these scenes come to be?
Post-apocalyptic worlds are an endless source of inspiration. I intend to work on creating comics and stories that will let readers see the beauty of a ruined world and reflect on the secrets hidden within each abandoned object. 📚✨
For me, it’s crucial to depict these worlds in detail so that readers can truly immerse themselves—feel the atmosphere, observe how nature reclaims what’s left behind, and ponder the past. While I’m just beginning to explore this theme, I already know what I want to convey: the haunting beauty of the unknown and the enigmatic. I hope that when my stories are ready, they will offer readers a chance to step into the post-apocalyptic worlds I create and feel as though they’re part of them. 🌍🌌
